Worry Worm

The worry worm buries all his worries underground and pretends he is happy and calm. Can you think of a time when you buried your worries like the worry worm? The 'Worry Worm' resource provides an interactive way for people to explore what worries they hide away and act like things are okay, when they are actually really struggling.

What are the benefits of using this resource?

Worrying is the feeling of fear or uneasiness, and is something that everyone will experience at some point in their lives. Whilst it is normal to feel worried at times, this can become a problem when it is reoccurring and begins to interfere with a person's everyday life.

Sometimes we can put on a happy, smiley face on the outside when inside we could be feeling very different. This is called masking our feelings. If you were to take off your mask to show what you are really feeling, what would you look like?

We may hide our worries because we don't want to bother other people, we may be feeling ashamed or guilty, or we might be worried about how others might react. Talking about the things that are worrying us allows us to make sense of, and begin to process our emotions and experiences, as well as helping us to get the right assistance and support we need to overcome help us our difficulties.

Its Good To Talk!!!

If you are struggling with your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and/or difficult experiences, we recommend that you talk to one of the trusted people in your life, and seek professional help and support. Sharing our experiences can be empowering, as it can help us to take back control of our lives by allowing us to identify and manage our difficulties, and take positive and proactive steps to overcome these. However, we can sometimes find it hard to talk about our difficulties and how we feel; in such cases, writing these down can feel easier and less painful and can serve as a great method of communicating when words are too difficult to speak. If you are struggling to talk, we encourage you to use written word or this resource to share what has happened to you and how you are feeling.
